Marathon Update 1.0.5.1 Is Live – Here’s What Got Fixed (And Why You Should Care)

Runners! Bungie just dropped a new patch for Marathon, and while it’s not a flashy content drop, it’s the kind of update that makes you stop yelling at your screen. Update 1.0.5.1 focuses on exploits, vanishing loot, broken contracts, and UI weirdness. Cryo Archive gets some love too. Here’s what changed and why you should care.

🛠️ Marathon Update 1.0.5.1 – Small Patch, Big Difference

🎨 Item Economy & Customization – Finally, You Can See What You’re Missing

One of the smallest but most welcome changes: unowned Cryo Archive shell styles now show up in the Customization menu. Before this patch, you’d only see what you already owned. Now you can browse everything – including the stuff you don’t have yet.

That means you can actually plan your cosmetic grind instead of crossing your fingers or digging through external wikis. Drop rates haven’t changed, but the visibility has. For collectors and fashion‑focused Runners, it’s a small quality‑of‑life win that makes the long chase feel a lot more intentional.

🕵️ Runner Thief & Pickpocket Drone – No More Cooldown Cheesing

Thief mains, listen up. There was an exploit that let you refresh the Pickpocket Drone’s cooldown by pressing the Prime Ability button right as it timed out. Savvy players were chaining the drone way more often than intended, turning loot‑focused runs into borderline spam fests.

That’s gone now. The cooldown behaves correctly, so using Pickpocket requires actual timing and decision‑making again. If you’ve been leaning hard on Thief, this is a good moment to revisit your build and routing. (And yeah, our Boost coaches can help you adapt.)

🗺️ Zones: Outpost & Cryo Archive – Plugging the Holes

Outpost had a few spots where players could slip out of bounds – near the Pinwheel and Dormitories. Those are fixed. No more cheesy hiding spots or unfair sightlines. Firefights should feel fairer.

Cryo Archive got two important fixes: environmental security door wall art render distance (so textures don’t look like mud) and geometry that let loose items fall through the floor. That last one is huge – how many times have you seen a juicy drop just vanish into nothing? Fewer now.

📍 UI, Pings & Codex – Exfil Markers No Longer Vanish

This one made us cheer. There was a bug where exfils would disappear from the overhead map if you pinged and unpinged repeatedly. In a tense endgame situation, losing your extraction marker can cost you everything. Fixed.

The Codex also got some translation love: Ranked cosmetic challenges for Gold and Diamond now display correctly in all supported languages. Less confusion about what you need to do for that shiny reward.

📋 Contracts, CyberAcme & Timers – Finally Working Right

Contracts have been a pain point for a while. Two big fixes:

  • The contract reroll refresh timer no longer incorrectly shows “+1 week”. Now you’ll know exactly when you can reroll.
  • A bug that blocked CyberAcme contracts and displayed “Contract Disabled” has been squashed. This one has been frustrating players for ages – dead contract slots, lost progression, missed rewards. Gone.

If you’re a contract grinder or faction‑focused player, this means reliable rotations and better access to rewards. And if you want to min‑max your contract pathing now that the system works, we’ve got your back.

⚡ Stability & Localization – Less Crashing, Clearer Text

Bungie also rolled out a broad set of stability fixes targeting crashes, “kicked to lobby” errors, and general reliability. No, they didn’t list every single crash signature, but the patch notes make it clear this is a serious sweep.

Finally, localization errors for Cryo Archive Codex entries have been corrected – so descriptions, challenge texts, and lore entries actually make sense in your language. For an info‑dense mode like Cryo Archive, that’s a big deal.

💬 BuyCarry’s Take: Small Patch, Big Difference

We’ve played enough Marathon to know that “quality of life” patches are often the ones that matter most. Update 1.0.5.1 doesn’t add new guns or maps, but it fixes the kind of paper cuts that make you close the game early.

The Pickpocket fix restores balance to Thief without gutting the character. The exfil marker fix saves runs. The CyberAcme contract fix unblocks progression for faction grinders. And the Cryo Archive loot‑falling‑through‑floor fix? We’ve all been there, and we’re glad it’s gone.

At BuyCarry, we see these changes as a green light to get back into Cryo Archive with confidence. The systems are cleaner, the exploits are closed, and the grind is more predictable. If you want to translate these fixes into faster progression – whether it’s farming shells, finishing contracts, or just extracting more often – our team is ready to help.

Small patch, smart fixes, smoother runs. Let’s go.
