🎮 Guardian Games and new loot

Guardian Games is live, inviting Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks to throw themselves into a remixed Rushdown and chase this year’s golden trophy until April 14. The Event Track is stacked, featuring a new shader, ship, emblem, Ghost shell, and guaranteed holofoil weapons, bringing Guardian Games in line with other major annual events in terms of exclusive rewards.

You’ll be hunting three headline weapons throughout the event:

  • Triple Laureate – a Stasis spreadshot Hand Cannon, capable of shotgun‑esque close‑range pressure with Hand Cannon reach.
  • The Beacon – a Solar rapid‑fire Fusion Rifle, a versatile archetype that can shine in both PvE add clear and PvP duels.
  • Keraunios – an Arc adaptive frame Trace Rifle, returning to the Guardian Games loot pool with perk options tuned for the current sandbox.

For dedicated event grinders, Rare Vanguard Orders now grant Bright Dust: 50 Bright Dust per completion up to the 1,000 Bright Dust weekly threshold, then 10 Bright Dust per completion afterward. This gives dedicated players a clear, repeatable path to farm Bright Dust while they chase medals and event loot.

🔄 Activities and playlist fixes

In Lawless Frontier, an issue where the Behemoth walker could spawn without an active timer has been fixed, reducing confusion and preventing incomplete objective states. In the Crucible, a bug where bonus Crucible Engram rewards would not auto‑decrypt has been resolved, smoothing out post‑match reward flow.

Trials of Osiris also sees a key fix: loading into matches where the opposing team had already quit will no longer hand you an undeserved loss, which should make weekend cards feel more consistent and fair for all skill levels.

🛡️ Armor, weapons, and buildcrafting

Event‑focused fashion and function get a nice quality‑of‑life upgrade: event armor set bonus mods now become available as soon as any piece of that set is unlocked in Collections, instead of requiring an exact armor match (like having the precise Festival of the Lost Masquerader’s helmet). This makes it significantly easier to use event bonuses without hunting down perfect duplicates.

Several notable armor bugs are fixed: Abeyant Leap now correctly increases suspend duration, newly acquired Warlock and Titan Reverie Dawn armor now properly drop with the Riven’s Curse mod, and the Ferropotent set’s Rapid Repair 2‑piece bonus will no longer override higher levels of non‑stacking damage resistance. Together, these changes make high‑end armor interactions more predictable and less prone to quietly undercutting your survivability.

On the weapons side, multiple polish passes land at once. A bug where applying a Masterwork to the Praxic Blade wouldn’t grant the gold masterwork border has been fixed, and Finalty’s Auger turrets can now target the Ketchcrash Optics servitor boss as intended. Enhanced Ricochet Rounds now correctly grant an improved stat benefit, and the beloved Sweaty Confetti mod finally plays its audio again, restoring some much‑missed flair to multikills.

⚡ Ability tuning for all three classes

Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks each get targeted ability fixes that stabilize powerful builds previewed in TWID.

For Titans:

  • Shiver Strike melee no longer activates on defeated targets, eliminating awkward “ghost swings” and wasted inputs.
  • Roaring Flames now gains stacks from weapon‑sourced Ignition final blows, making ability–weapon combos more rewarding for aggressive Solar builds.

For Hunters:

  • Ascension’s alternate class ability can now activate Lethal Current, finally tying those two pieces of the Arc kit together.
  • On the Prowl once again grants ability energy at max stacks, and Combination Blow can now be activated by Lethal Current, restoring intended loop synergy for melee‑focused Hunters.

For Warlocks:

  • Healing Rift and Empowering Rift have been fixed so they no longer fail to spawn when the Warlock is throttling toward certain objects.
  • Chaos Accelerant no longer lets short‑range Void Grenade blasts stack Weaken “many, many times” on the same frame, closing a powerful exploit.
  • The Wanderer’s Tangles now deal full, base Tangle damage, and Weavewalk can no longer be animation‑canceled with a melee, toning down some of the slipperiest Strand abuse.

📈 Power, NotSwap, and progression

Random Exotic Engrams now drop at your current power instead of 200, making them immediately useful as progression tools rather than vendor fodder. Additionally, Graviton Forfeit can now be correctly focused at Master Rahool, fixing a long‑standing gap in Exotic targeting.

The competitive‑focused NotSwap modifier also receives an important update: an issue where players could change weapon or armor mods in competitive 3v3 Crucible to gain unfair advantages has been fixed. This continues Bungie’s broader effort to keep NotSwap as a guardrail against mid‑match min‑maxing, while still allowing normal loadout flexibility. Bungie notes that NotSwap will not be enabled in Pantheon 2.0, with more details on that mode to come.

🖥️ UI, quests, cosmetics, and general fixes

A wide assortment of quality‑of‑life fixes round out Update 9.5.6:

  • The Stars Crossed emblem is now properly visible in Collections, and emblem trackers for titles earned and Iron Banner stats are fixed and updating.
  • Vanguard Armory previews now correctly show 11 total energy and a mod tuning slot, better reflecting their true potential.
  • Several quest bugs are resolved, including Masterwork: New Weapon Guardian Rank not progressing for certain masterwork options, Iron Banner’s Testament of Strength lingering and blocking other event quests, and an incorrect triumph unlock when shaping Dead Man’s Tale with its catalyst.
  • On the expression side, Holochip effects and the Guardian Games Winning Team effect no longer conflict, the Jade Rabbit Gauntlets universal ornament no longer obscures ADS on some weapons, and The Martlet and Corundum Hammer now display shaders correctly.
  • Finally, the free‑to‑claim Runner Kit Accessories Pack has been restored to Eververse, ensuring all players can grab it as intended.
