League of Legends Patch 26.8: Groovy Changes, Champion Keybinds, and a Ranked Season Finale

Summoners! Patch 26.8 is here, and it’s packing a little bit of everything – from long awaited quality of life features to significant champion balance swings, ARAM Mayhem tweaks, Arena buffs, and even a Discord integration beta. The ranked Season 1 ends on April 28, so this is your last chance to hit your goals before the reset. And with champion specific keybinds finally arriving, you might want to spend some time in practice tool before jumping into ranked. Let’s break down what actually matters.

Patch 26.8 brings champion keybinds, Discord beta, balance changes, ARAM Mayhem updates, Arena AP buffs, and the end of Ranked Season 1.

🎮 League of Legends Patch 26.8 – Groovy Changes & Season Finale

1. Ranked Season 1 End – Last Call

EventDate & Time (Local server time)
Season 1 endsApril 28, 23:59:59
Season 2 startsApril 29, 12:00:00 (patch 26.9)
Ranked mission (15 wins)Resets with Season 2
End of S1 rewardsGranted during patch 26.9
Shard transfer servicesTemporarily disabled during transition

Our take: If you’re one win away from a rank tier, now’s the time to grind – or let our boosters secure it for you. The mission reset means you’ll have to earn another 15 wins next season for rewards, so don’t leave it to the last minute.

2. Champion Specific Keybinds – Finally Here

One of the most requested features in League history has arrived: champion specific keybinds. You can now override most keybinds on a per champion basis.

Champions That Benefit MostWhy
RumbleDifferent smartcast settings for his ult
ViktorCustom keybinds for E laser
ZoeQuicker W usage
Any champion with unique abilitiesFinally, no more universal awkwardness

“Rumble and Viktor players rejoice – smartcast options can also be toggled on a per champion basis.”

Watermark Removed (97)

Important: You cannot set these up outside the game. Go into Practice Tool first and configure them before queuing for ranked.

3. Discord Integration – Beta Starts April 16

Riot is partnering with Discord to make partying up easier. The beta launches April 16 in the US, Canada, and Brazil, with more regions to follow.

FeatureWhat It Does
Invite Discord friends directlyNo alt tabbing needed
Copy party linkShare in any Discord server
Cross game visibilitySee which friends play other Riot games

Our take: This is huge for casual and competitive players alike. Easier partying means more games played – and more players potentially looking for coaching to improve with their friends.

4. Champion Changes – Buffs, Nerfs, and Quality of Life

Dr. Mundo (Nerf – Jungle Clear)

AbilityBeforeAfter
Q – Monster Damage Cap300–600250–550
E – Monster Damage Cap200%140%

Verdict: Still playable, but no more hyper fast full clears. He’ll need to scale more slowly.

Hwei (Buff – Passive Damage)

PassiveBeforeAfter
Base Damage35–230 (lvl 1–18)40–285 (lvl 1–18)
Slow stackingNoSlows from abilities now stack (diminishing)

Verdict: Hwei mains, rejoice. Your combos will hit harder, especially in prolonged fights.

Karma (Nerf – Shield and Base Stats)

StatBeforeAfter
Base AD5149
AD Growth3.33.0
E – Mana Cost50–7060–80

Verdict: Karma support takes a hit. She’ll need to be more careful with shield timing.

Lillia (Buff – Monster Damage)

PassiveBeforeAfter
Monster Damage Cap6570–180 (scaling with level)

Verdict: Lillia jungle returns. Her clear speed will feel noticeably better past level 6.

Lucian (Buff – E Cooldown & Mana)

E – Relentless PursuitBeforeAfter
Cooldown18–1416–14 (better early)
Mana Cost40–032–0

Verdict: Lucian mid/bot could come back. Lower early cooldown and mana cost means more aggressive trading.

Mel (Nerf – Q and W)

AbilityBeforeAfter
Q – Initial Explosion Damage60–180 (+60% AP)60–160 (+55% AP)
W – Cooldown35–2338–26
W – Bonus Move Speed Duration1.5 sec0.75 sec

Verdict: Mel players will feel this. Less poke damage, less uptime on her reflect, and much shorter speed boost. A solid nerf.

Tahm Kench (Adjustment – Top vs Support)

PassiveBeforeAfter
Damage6–48 (+1.5% AP per 100 bonus HP) (+4.5% bonus HP)5–60 (+1.25% AP per 100 bonus HP) (+4% bonus HP)

Verdict: Slight shift – early damage down a bit, but scaling up to higher late game damage. Top Tahm slightly nerfed, support Tahm slightly buffed.

Yuumi (Bugfix + Buff)

R – Final ChapterBeforeAfter
Heal Per Wave30/40/50 (+10% AP)30/50/70 (+12% AP)
Best Friend Enhanced Heal30% more30–60% more (lvl 6–12)

Verdict: Yuumi is back on the menu – but not as oppressive as before. The healing buff is significant at later levels.

Zilean & Zyra (QoL – No More Level 1 W)

Both champions can no longer put their first skill point into W.

  • Zilean – W (Rewind) can’t be taken at level 1.
  • Zyra – W (Rampant Growth) can’t be taken at level 1.

Verdict: A small but beautiful change. No more accidental useless level 1s.

💬 BuyCarry Team’s Take

This patch is a quality of life gem mixed with meaningful balance shifts.

What we love: Champion specific keybinds – a game changer for one tricks and pros alike. We’ll be updating our coaching materials to help clients optimize these. Discord integration – lowers the barrier to playing with friends. More parties = more games = more demand for rank boosts. ARAM Mayhem tuning – the movement speed reduction makes fights less chaotic, which competitive players will appreciate. Lucian and Hwei buffs – two champions that were on the fringe now have real potential. Expect them to reappear in the meta.

What we’re cautious about: Mel nerf – she might fall too hard, especially in ARAM. But her pick/ban rate needed a cooldown. Karma changes – second attempt; if this doesn’t work, Riot might need a larger rework. Ranked season end – always a stressful time. If you’re tilted or stuck, don’t gamble your rank. Let us help.

For BuyCarry clients: Need to hit a rank before April 28? Our boosters are ready. Want to learn the new Lucian or Hwei? Coaching available. Confused by champion keybinds? We’ll walk you through setup. ARAM Clash coming up? We can help you practice comps and strategies.

Final verdict: Patch 26.8 is a solid, player friendly update. It doesn’t revolutionize the game, but the long awaited features and careful balance tweaks show Riot is listening.
