Crimson Desert Patch 1.06.00 – Tame Bears & Raptors, Extract Materials, Massive QoL Update

Crimson Desert update 1.06.00 adds special mounts (bears, wolves, raptors), material extraction (100% special mats back), new Oongka skills, and dozens of fixes.

Pearl Abyss answers players’ prayers: ride a bear, recover upgrade materials, and enjoy a mountain of quality‑of‑life improvements. Patch out now on all platforms.

Pearl Abyss continues its post‑launch support with update 1.06.00 – special mounts, material extraction, Oongka skills, and hundreds of fixes. Full breakdown.

🐻 1. Special Mounts – Finally, You Can Ride a Bear (or a Raptor)

CDpets

The community has been asking since launch: Why can’t I tame a bear? Now you can. A wide range of wild animals can be registered as special mounts after gaining their trust.

How Taming Works

  • Gain trust by feeding animals meat (similar to befriending a dog).
  • Some ferocious animals require subduing (fighting) before feeding.
  • Certain species have unique taming methods – not all are as simple as tossing meat.
  • Feeding untamable animals has no effect.

Full List of Tameable Animals
Bears, Boars, Wolves, Deer, Mountain Goats, Kuku Birds, Iguanas, Raptors, Camels, Lions, Tigers.

Mount Equipment & Saddles

  • Saddles no longer appear as default; you can now equip them on special mounts.
  • Saddles are purchased at saddleries across different cities (e.g., Hernand for wolves and bears, Tommaso for iguanas, Varnia for camels).
  • A new Special Mounts tab has been added to the inventory UI.
  • You can feed your mount while riding (select food from inventory and choose “Feed”).

“Ferocious animals can be tamed by subduing and feeding them, while certain species require unique methods to tame.”

Our take: This feature alone will keep collectors busy for hours. Expect social media flooded with raptor‑riding clips. The saddle variety across cities encourages exploration.

⚙️ 2. Extraction – Recover Upgrade Materials, Reduce Endgame Grind

One of the biggest pain points in Crimson Desert’s endgame was the fear of wasting rare materials on gear upgrades that you might later replace. The new Extraction feature solves that.

Material TypeRecovery Rate
Special materials (Artifacts, Aeserion’s scale, etc.)100%
Common materials (iron ore, copper ore, bloodstones)~70%

How It Works

  • Interact with smithies in various regions.
  • You can extract a single refinement level or all the way back to the base refinement level (the level when first acquired).
  • Extraction does not destroy the equipment – only lowers its refinement level.
  • Example: Equipment refined to level 10 (base level 4) can be extracted back to level 4, recovering all materials used up to level 10.

Cdpt1

Our take: This is a game‑changer for theorycrafters and min‑maxers. No more hoarding upgrade materials out of fear. The 70% return on common mats is fair – you still lose a bit, but it’s a small price for experimentation.

✨ 3. Other Major Additions & Improvements

The patch is enormous, so here are the highlights beyond the two headliners.

New Unarmed Combat Skills for Oongka
Oongka now has a suite of unarmed skills (accessible via “Fists” in the skill menu). Damiane’s unarmed skills are promised in the next update.

Sheaths for Swords & Display Option
Swords now have visible sheaths. You can toggle sheath display on/off.

Claw Machine at the Laughing Marionette
A playable claw machine with 12 lighting items, a chair, a special headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gears.

Sigil of Valor – Pet Dog Attacks Enemies
New item that makes your pet dog attack enemies. Purchased from the Secret Shop NPC in Pororin.

Quality of Life

  • “Clean All,” “Butcher All,” and “Obtain All Seeds” functions added to inventory.
  • Search function in Skills menu.
  • Night Tone Mode graphics option (softer colors, brighter shadows).
  • Increased fish selling prices and higher chances of Abyss Gear Blueprints from strongholds.
  • Dispatch, exploration, and excavation missions at strongholds can now be repeated.

Key Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the Iron Eagle could not be tamed if not tamed on the first attempt.
  • Fixed an issue where fish would not bite in certain areas.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would load indefinitely in some save files.
  • Dozens of boss, quest, and animation fixes (detailed in the full notes).

💬 BuyCarry Team’s Take

Crimson Desert continues to evolve into the game players hoped for at launch. Patch 1.06.00 directly addresses two of the biggest community requests – rideable wild animals and a safety net for gear upgrades.

What we love:

  • Special mounts are pure joy. The variety is absurd (iguanas? raptors?) and the taming system is approachable.
  • Extraction removes the paralyzing fear of wasting rare materials. Endgame experimentation just got a whole lot cheaper.
  • Oongka’s new skills add build variety – we’ll be updating our companion guides.
  • Claw machine is a fun, low‑stakes diversion with decent rewards.
  • Night Tone Mode is a welcome graphics option for players sensitive to high contrast.

What we’re neutral about:

  • Some animals require “unique methods” – unspecified. Could be obscure puzzles or hidden items.
  • 70% return on common mats is good but not great. Still, it’s better than 0%.

For our clients:

  • Want to collect all special mounts? We offer mount‑taming services.
  • Need help optimizing extraction and gear respec? Our coaches can plan your upgrade path.
  • Just want to skip the grind and enjoy the new content? We’ll handle the farming.

Final verdict: Patch 1.06.00 is a massive win for Crimson Desert. It respects players’ time, adds genuine fun (raptor riding!), and makes endgame progression feel less punishing. If you’ve been away, now is the perfect time to return – or let us catch you up.
